CREATING THE KANSAS YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

KSHSD is proud to support HB 2255, a bill that establishes the Kansas youth advisory council and would give Kansans between the ages of 14 and 20 a greater voice in state government.

CREATING A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Senate Bill 47 proposes the creation of the student opportunity scholarship program, which would help high school graduates pay tuition at Kansas universities.

EXPANDING ANTI-DISCRIMINATION LAWS

SB 84 and HB 2130 would help ensure that all Kansans, no matter who they are or who they love, have full codified equality in employment, housing, and public services.

AUTOMATIC VOTER REGISTRATION FOR LICENSEES

Committed to increasing voter turnout, KSHD supports SB 159, which would automatically register Kansans to vote when they apply for a drivers license. This policy will remove the barrier that comes with registering to vote, thereby increasing turnout.

SUBMITTING TESTIMONY

Giving testimony is one of the most effective ways to educate legislators and policy-makers. It is generally given as a statement before legislative committees, and allows parties to present their position or evidence on potential legislation. Submitting testimony is one of the main ways by which local chapters and individuals may participate in our advocacy efforts during the 2020 legislative session.
